“The Importance of Planning an Identity Management Strategy in Healthcare - A Case Study at South Jersey Healthcare” is the title of the session that I will be co-presenting with François Bodhuin, Technology Director at South Jersey Healthcare, during the NJ-DV HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) Fall Conference.

Our session will be on Thursday September 22^nd, 2011 at 1 pm ET at the Caesars Atlantic City in Atlantic City, NJ, and you can register here.

The presentation will center on recommendations and best practices for a successful Identity and Access Management (IAM) initiative, and will emphasize areas such as the importance of creating and managing a strategic IAM roadmap before starting any implementation, embracing IAM as a program not as a project, avoiding common pitfalls, and lessons learned from South Jersey Healthcare’s experience, particularly in understanding their drivers and challenges - which are likely heartfelt across many healthcare organizations.

Consistent with our series of blog posts focusing on IAM in healthcare, I anticipate this being an interactive session with interesting perspectives based on real life experience.
